Nintendo Switch with better battery life includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Black Friday

Ahead of Black Friday 2020, one of the best Nintendo deals is available early. It’s a unique deal — the Nintendo Switch costs $300, a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe costs $60, and three months of Nintendo Switch Online is $8. If you are looking to buy a Nintendo Switch, Best Buy has a bundle that includes the console, a digital code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and three months of Nintendo Switch Online for just $300.

It's on sale for $300, which is admittedly its actual retail price, but this bundle includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a party game every bit as essential as Scrabble. (Yes, Scrabble is a party game, leave me alone and let me drink my sherry in peace.) Usually these bundles stop there, but this one also includes three months of Nintendo Online service, so you can get schooled by Mario Kart players a third your age. This version of the Switch can be docked to a TV or played as a handheld.

The Nintendo Switch included with the bundle is the updated model, as confirmed to us by a spokesperson at Best Buy. The updated Switch model includes two more hours of battery life than the original model. While in handheld, the updated Switch can be used anywhere between 4.5 hours to nine hours on a single charge, depending on what games you play.

Some states (mine included) are going back under lockdown through the upcoming holiday, which leaves me plenty of time to play through Spiritfarer for the hundredth time (here's a list of our favorite games). Altogether it's a value a bit over the sticker price. You'll save about $68 on the bundle.

Before the quarantine, I used to love taking it to a cafe or on the bus. Now it just comes with me from my couch to my bed to the floor, or wherever I've decided to make a nest and be cozy for a few hours. It's the perfect gift for this deeply accursed year.

The Nintendo Switch never stays on store shelves for long. That's why I'm stoked to see it sort of on sale. This kinda price is as good as it gets, folks. It doesn't sell out as often as it did early in its life, but it's still a very hot item and for good reason: It's still a great console to get, even compared to next-gen offerings like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a great game to play with family or friends, and if you want to play online, you will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. While an argument can be made for why all three of these products alone are good gifts, this bundle is great for late adopters of Nintendo’s hybrid console. Alongside access to playing Nintendo games online like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Switch Online also includes access to digital games such as Tetris 99, plus a selection of NES and Super NES titles.
