Redmi Note 9T 5G launch date set for January 8: Price, specifications leaked ahead of launch

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T will be unveiled on January 8, the company has confirmed through its social media accounts. The phone, which is doing its certification rounds, has now been made official as well as its back panel design. The Redmi Note 9T will come with 5G support and will be the latest addition to Xiaomi's confusing Redmi Note 9 series. Additionally, the phone's specifications, pricing and promo images have reportedly been leaked prior to launch.

Xiaomi is already in full-on teaser mode for the Redmi Note 9T, the latest member of the vast and confusing Redmi/Note 9 family of smartphones. We've seen it getting benchmarked last week, and today more information about it has been outed from a few sources.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T launch, expected price Redmi Note 9T will be launched on January 8 at 1pm GMT+1 (5:30pm IST) as per the company's Twitter and Facebook global accounts. Xiaomi will hold a virtual event that will be live streamed on the company's social media channels, and on YouTube.

The company has not shared pricing for the phone but Amazon Germany has seemingly jumped the gun on its listings for the Redmi Note 9T. Though the listing has now been removed, a report by Droidholic citing the Amazon listing shows that the 4GB + 64GB storage variant will be priced at EUR 229.90 (roughly Rs. 20,700) and the 4GB + 128GB variant will be priced at EUR 269.90 (roughly Rs. 24,300). Nightfall Black and Daybreak Purple have been listed as the two colour options.

Second, Amazon Germany has mistakenly already listed the device, and that's revealed other specs as well as EU pricing. The base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will retail for €229.90, while you can get double the storage space (and no additional RAM) if you shell out €269.90.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T specifications (expected)

Some of the specifications for the phone were also mentioned in the now removed Amazon Germany listing. The phone is said to feature a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. It may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, have NFC support, and come with a 5,000mAh battery. The triple rear camera setup is said to be highlighted by a 48-megapixel primary sensor. A promo image shared by known tipster Abhishek Yadav shows support for 18W fast charging as well.

First of all, we have promo pictures which you can see below, one of which talks about the main specs of the handset. As you can see, it should have a 48 MP main camera, 6.53 "FHD + hole-punch display, dual speaker, NFC and 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging. It is powered by MediaTek Dimension 800U chipset, but we Already knew that thanks to the previous leak.

Furthermore, the Redmi Note 9T 5G is expected to be a rebadged Redmi Note 9 5G that launched in China in November last year. If so, the Redmi Note 9T will feature an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel tertiary sensor with a macro lens. On the front, there could be a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Amazon's listing also talks of a 90 Hz refresh rate for the screen, and outs the name of two color versions: Nightfall Black and Daybreak Purple. It looks like the Redmi Note 9T is basically just a global version of the Redmi Note 9 5G that has so far been exclusive to China, with an upped screen refresh rate and less RAM.

The Redmi Note 9T is getting official on January 8, and is expected to run Android 10 with MIUI 12 on top.
