Zara Tindall and husband Mike confirm birth of baby boy

Zara Tindall has given birth to a baby boy who will be the Queen's 10th great-grandchild.

Her husband Mike Tindall confirmed the news on his The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast - with the couple choosing the adorable name Lucas Philip Tindall.

Rugby pro Mike described his weekend as "crazy" after Zara gave birth on the bathroom floor of their home when they didn't have time to make to hospital.

Zara and Mike Tindall have announced the birth of their baby boy, who was born on their bathroom floor at home.

Mike described how he made calls to the midwife while dashing to get a mat for Zara to lay on from their gym

A spokeswoman for the couple said: "Zara and Mike Tindall are happy to announce the birth of their third child, Lucas Philip Tindall."

The baby was born at home, Mike Tindall revealed on his podcast.

Tindall said his son was born on the bathroom floor after the couple were unable to make it to hospital.

"Arrived very quickly. Didn't make it to hospital. On the bathroom floor," he said.

Tindall described how he rushed to get a mat for his wife.

"So yeah, it was running to the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get the mat on the floor, towels down, brace, brace, brace."

The baby was born at 6pm on Sunday, he said.

He said: "Saturday, loved all the rugby...I was actually genuinely angry after the England game."

He then continued saying: "And then Sunday got even better because a little baby boy arrived at my house".

Proud father Mike said Zara was a “warrior” and little Lucas “arrived very quickly...on the bathroom floor”.

The Queen will add a number of great-grandchildren to the family this year, with Eugenie giving birth last month and Meghan expecting in the summer.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying: "The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news and look forward to meeting their 10th Great Grandchild when circumstances allow."

Zara and Mike couple are already proud parents to daughters Lena Elizabeth, who was born in 2018, and six-year-old Mia.

Mike previously revealed they were expecting a baby on the podcast, saying: "It's been a good week for me, had a little scan last week - third Tindall on its way."

On his wife Zara, who has spoken about two miscarriages she has experienced, Tindall added: "Z is very good, always careful because of things that have happened in the past, and really looking forward to it."

Asked about the baby's due date, Tindall remained tight lipped and replied: "We like to play our cards close to the chest."

But he revealed his eldest child has not been told the good news: "We haven't told Mia yet because we knew she would tell everyone at school, now that we've gone through the scan, yes (of) course we'll tell her."

"She'll be happy about it, she's been requesting another sister or brother, so we've hopefully fulfilled that role for her.

"She just wants something different now, Lena's growing up she's two-and-a-half now, she wants something younger to play with and dress up."

Zara, a champion equestrian rider who won a team silver in the London 2012 Olympics, and former England rugby player Tindall have been together for 17 years.

They met during England's Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003 and got married in Edinburgh back in July 2011.

Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and the second eldest of the Queen's eight grandchildren.

The couple previously spoke about their heartbreak when Zara suffered a miscarriage just before Christmas in 2016.

She added: "But as with everything, time's a great healer."

Today, a spokeswoman for the couple said: "Zara and Mike Tindall are happy to announce the birth of their third child, Lucas Philip Tindall."

The baby was born on Sunday March 21, weighing 8lbs 4oz.
