Google IO 2021: How to watch online live stream, Android 12, Pixel 6 and all that Google can announce

Google's big-ticket event is taking place tonight, and you can expect some massive announcements. Google IO 2021 will kick off at 10:30 pm IST, and interested people can watch it live on YouTube as well as Twitter. This means get set for a host of product updates and announcements. The company has already confirmed some of the plans it has set up, as the main highlight of the event is the Google IO keynote, and that will be a two-hour-long session.

This year's IO event has become much more important for Google as the company cancelled last year's edition due to the pandemic. During the earnings call earlier this year, CEO Sundar Pichai said that the IO event would include some major announcements.

Some of the sessions listed include "What's new in Android", "What's new for the web platform," "What's new in machine learning," and "What's new in Firebase," among others.

The dedicated IO website gives us a sneak peek at some of the listed schedule sessions like we can expect new updates coming to Google Play, Developer keynote for developers, new updates for Google Assistant, new features for ChromeOS, updates to Material Design, new smart home products, and new capabilities in ARCore.

From Android 12, Wear OS, Pixel 6, and all that Google may announce at IO

Ahead of IO 2021, Google has teased a brand new Wear OS version which means smartwatches running the company's operating system may get refreshes. Considering this could be a major update to Wear OS after several years, we can expect a major design overhaul to the entire UI.

Earlier this year, Google called out developers to build Tiles for Wear OS, which means at launch, we can see multiple Tiles for the new Wear OS. Alongside the latest Wear OS, Google may also announce the Pixel Watch, which has been leaked in recent reports. However, some reports have claimed that the Pixel Watch launch may take place later, and Google may use its developer conference for the tease of its upcoming smartwatch.

Coming to the Android 12 update, Google has already teased some features, including improved app launch experience, new call notifications, new permission for exact alarms, improved web linking, rich haptic experience, machine learning enhancements, better debugging for native crashes, and more.

The company has confirmed that the new Android 12 update will be available for almost all Pixel devices starting from Pixel 3 and later. This means Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5 users will get the new Android 12 update.

Google Assistant is likely to see an update as well. The company has listed a session on the second day of IO 2021, which will be dedicated to Google Assistant. Some reports claimed that the Google Assistant interface would receive a refresh as well, including a more colourful UI that will appear during human interaction. However, we will have to wait for an update on this.

Talking about product announcements, Google IO is likely to focus on services and apps. However, considering there have been plenty of leaks recently around Pixel Buds A-series and Pixel 6. We cannot deny the possibility of these devices showing up tonight during IO 2021.
